The House Ledger
Privacy Policy
The House Ledger (“the app”, “we”) is a small web app for tracking poker-night buy-ins, cash-outs and settle-ups among a group of friends. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it deliberately short because the app does deliberately little.
1. Information we collect
- Account information — when you sign in with Google or an email magic link, we receive your name and email address from that sign-in. We do not receive or store your Google password.
- Profile information you provide — a display name and, optionally, a UPI ID (a payment-receiving handle such as name@bank). A UPI ID is not a password or a bank account number; it is a public handle used so others can pay you.
- Game data you and your group enter — table names, player names, buy-in and cash-out amounts, and the resulting settlement records.
- Local device data — your browser’s local storage holds your sign-in session and small preferences (e.g. dealer position, which seat is “you” on a given device). This stays on your device.
We do not collect payment-card details, bank credentials, or location data, and we do not run third-party advertising or analytics trackers.
2. How we use it
- To let you sign in and keep your games private to your account.
- To show and sync your group’s ledger across everyone’s phones in real time.
- To build a one-tap UPI payment link or QR code at settle-up — using a payee’s chosen UPI ID — so people can pay each other in their own UPI apps.
3. Who can see your data
Access is scoped to accounts and tables. You only see games you started or joined (with the table code). Other members of a table can see that table’s player names and amounts, because that is the point of a shared ledger. Your profile (name and UPI ID) is visible only to people you share at least one table with — not to the public or to strangers.
4. Service providers we rely on
We use a few third-party services purely to run the app. Your data passes through or is stored by them under their own privacy terms:
- Supabase — database, authentication and real-time sync (stores your account, profile and game data).
- Google — “Sign in with Google” authentication.
- Vercel — hosting of the website.
- jsDelivr — public CDN that serves a few open-source code libraries.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone.
5. Payments
The House Ledger is not a payment processor and does not hold, transfer, or have access to any money. At settle-up it only generates a standard UPI link or QR code containing a payee’s UPI ID and an amount. Any actual payment happens entirely inside your own UPI app and your bank — we are never in that loop.
6. Data retention & your choices
- You can delete any game (and its records) from within the app at any time; deletion is permanent for everyone in that game.
- You can edit or clear your profile name and UPI ID at any time.
- To delete your account and associated data entirely, email us at the address below and we will remove it.
7. Children
The app is intended for adults playing informal home games and is not directed at children under 13. Please do not use it if you are under 13.
8. Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
